PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor

Reins of Life, Inc. is seeking a PATH Intl Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CRTI) to join our growing organization. Reins of Life is a PATH Premier accredited 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has served children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted services since 1978. We have a vibrant, energetic, and progressive team. We promote an inclusive environment for people of all walks of life, ages and abilities. Together with our equine partners, we assist participants of our programs in their journey toward an improved quality of life and greater independence. Candidates must have a passionate commitment to support the achievements of people with disabilities. Responsibilities include lesson planning, set up, participant oversite, volunteer support, equine management within classes, and recording of goal progress. In addition to teaching responsibilities, instructors will attend team meetings, special and community events, and perform some administrative duties.

Preferred candidates will have:

· experience teaching a diverse population of students,

· knowledge of physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional disabilities,

· exceptional horse skills,

· demonstrated ability to work in teams,

· strong work-ethic, people skills, professionalism, positive attitude, and flexibility.

Preference will be given to candidates with additional certifications or interest in obtaining additional certifications (e.g., interactive vaulting, therapeutic driving, ESMHL) and/or a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field. Additional responsibilities may be considered based on the background and experience of the candidate.

 

Schedule:

Both part-time and full-time schedules will be considered. Applicant must be available for both day and evening shifts.

 

Location:

Our facilities are in South Bend and Michigan City, Indiana. The open position is primarily at our South Bend facility; however, the instructor must also be able and willing to teach at our Michigan City facility.
