Dorota is a native of Poland and has been in the US since 2003. She became an active volunteer and strong advocate for Reins of Life in 2007 while looking for a way to use her free time to help others. With a love of horses, she began her experience grooming horses, mucking stalls, sweeping floors and volunteering in classes. These efforts brought her to the attention of the staff who encouraged her to become more active by joining the Board of Directors, serving as the Board President in 2011. She willingly took on the accounting for the organization, began to help coordinate fundraising efforts and oversaw the rewriting of the 2011-2014 Strategic Plan. In July of 2012, Dorota was named Executive Director by the Board of Directors.

Among her other accomplishments, Dorota holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry, has studied business and accounting at the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University at South Bend and has recently completed the Northwest Indiana Leadership Training Program.  In her “spare” time, she teaches Polish at Forever Learning Institute.
