Hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Mark Meekhof, there will be social hour/dinner, silent and live auctions and more. All proceeds from this event support equine-assisted programs for children and adults with disabilities at our facilities in South Bend and Michigan City. Over the past 24 years the Annual Kelsey Marie Meekhof Memorial Dinner & Auction has brought opportunity, lasting friendships, and hope to adults and children with disabilities here at Reins of Life. Supporters have helped increase ridership to over 600 therapeutic riding slots offered annually. Reins of Life now offers more than 3,500 hours of equine-assisted services through mounted activities like therapeutic riding, interactive vaulting, therapeutic driving; unmounted activities in memory-promoting programs for assisted and senior living centers; as well as community outreach mini-visits to libraries, day programs for adults and teens with disabilities, and long-term care centers and equine-assisted learning through K-12 special education school programs.
'Courageous & Strong' are the brave, hopeful and determine children and adults with disabilities at Reins of Life, Inc. With the help of Emcee Bob Montgomery of WSBT and LIVE Auction host Chuck Freeby of 46 Sports; along with, this year's sponsors, performances and spotlight speakers Feb 5th will be a 'night of knights'!
A Message from Dr. Mark and Carla Meekhof:
Carla and I have a very special place in our hearts for Reins of Life. We were fortunate enough to be introduced to the program and quickly involved our daughter, Kelsey. Kelsey had cerebral palsy and was wheelchair bound. It is hard to express the sense of accomplishment and joy that Reins of Life provided Kelsey. The staff was warm and welcoming from the very beginning and the special bond she had with her horses and volunteers was just incredible. Now, since Kelsey has left us, we keep Kelsey's memory alive by continuing to raise funds for the program and telling everyone we know how special a place Reins of Life is. It is an organization that is more than worthy of your support either by volunteering, donating or fundraising. Help us keep this wonderful program vibrant and growing in the Michiana community.
Thank you.
